Easter Newsletter
Dear Families,
This has been an incredibly busy term, both inside the classroom and from an extra-curricular point of view. The GCSE and A Level pupils have worked very hard on finalising their courses and developing their revision schedules – and we wish them well with their revision over the Easter period. We had a really exciting Science Week, in which our pupils were exposed to a number of events. One of the most popular was for our 6th Form scientists, who took part in ‘post-mortem live’ – a simulation of a post mortem and a practical dissection workshop. Our Economics students also performed particularly well as 14 of them qualified as ‘finalists’ for the Northeastern University essay competition. We also enjoyed a superb musical performance of ‘Oliver!’ which demonstrated an array of both musical and acting talent across all age ranges in the school. The House Singing was won by Deacon and the Battle of the Bands by Bellerby, with both producing outstanding performances.
On the sports front, our U16 Girls Hockey team came 2nd in the Tier 2 National Finals and not to be outdone, our U15 Boys’ team came 2nd in the Independent Schools National Shield Championships. To be placed 2nd in the country at both boys and girls hockey is obviously an outstanding achievement. In addition, our U15 Girls Cricket Team has progressed to the Regional Finals, as Kent Champions in the Indoor 8’s competition, and our U15 boys were semi-finalists at the Kent Rugby 7s competition. Two of our pupils are undertaking their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the first week of the holiday and our CCF enjoyed an excellent Field Day at the end of term. Finally, every pupil who has taken a LAMDA exam this year has gained a Distinction, with 23 people gaining qualifications in the February series.
I hope that all of our pupils have a well-deserved rest and I wish all of our community a Happy Easter!
