Optional Exeat Weekends
At St Lawrence College, our approach to Exeat weekends reflects the flexibility and inclusive nature of our boarding provision. As a full boarding school with Saturday lessons, our pupils are typically on campus six days a week. Exeat weekends offer a welcomed break from this rhythm—without disrupting the sense of community that defines our school.
What is an Exeat Weekend?
On Exeat weekends, Saturday lessons are paused, providing boarders with the chance to relax, recharge, and enjoy time away from the classroom. We have five Exeat weekends throughout the academic year, usually in:
- September
- November
- January
- March
- May
Choice and Flexibility
Boarders may choose to go home, visit guardians, or stay with friends during Exeat weekends. However, those who remain at school are warmly welcomed and continue to enjoy a vibrant boarding experience.
Staying on Campus
Boarders who stay on site benefit from a relaxing change of pace and have the opportunity to take part in a specially curated programme of activities. These may include:
- Trips to local cafés, shops, and restaurants
- Cinema visits and themed film nights
- Creative workshops, games, and social events in-house
- Time for hobbies, reading, or simply relaxing
Weekend Activities Programme
Our Weekend Activities Programme ensures that even when lessons stop, the excitement doesn’t. Designed to energise and inspire, recent highlights have included:
- Immersive escape room challenges designed for teamwork and problem-solving
- Adrenaline-fuelled days out to Thorpe Park
- Paintballing and laser tag showdowns with friends
- Seasonal themed weekends, from Halloween to beach BBQs
- Exploratory trips to London’s historic attractions and hidden gems
These experiences are crafted to give students unforgettable memories, foster friendships, and develop important life skills—all while having fun and making the most of life beyond the classroom.
A Weekend That Works for You
Our Exeat weekends are completely optional—boarders are free to stay or go, depending on what suits them and their families best. Whether pupils travel home or remain on campus, we ensure they are cared for, engaged, and part of a thriving, supportive community.
