Best Boarding & Day School 2024 – South East England

This esteemed awards programme honours the best of the best in the private education sector, celebrating outstanding institutions and educators who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to providing excellent educational opportunities.

At St Lawrence College, our educational approach is centered on nurturing each child’s unique potential. We are committed to developing inquiring, knowledgeable individuals who are equipped to lead happy and fulfilling lives as compassionate members of a global community. Our goal is to empower students with the skills they need to actively contribute to an inclusive and sustainable future.

As a non-selective and inclusive school, St Lawrence College offers a variety of pathways to support the diverse needs of our pupils as they journey through their education. We believe that students thrive when they learn at a pace that suits them, surrounded by peers who are at similar stages in their learning. To ensure every child receives the right level of challenge or support, we begin setting students in many subjects from Year 7 onwards. This approach allows students to either extend their learning or receive the guidance they need to clarify their understanding and build confidence.

Our dedication to outstanding teaching and learning creates an environment where pupils can pursue their passions and achieve exceptional academic results, both at GCSE and A Level. At St Lawrence College, we celebrate each student’s journey, helping them to grow into well-rounded individuals who are prepared for the future with both heart and mind.

Our admissions process is designed to be fluid and welcoming, reflecting our commitment to inclusivity as a non-selective school. We understand that every family’s situation is unique, so we offer flexibility in our admissions timeline, allowing entry at various points throughout the academic year.

We focus on understanding each child’s individual strengths and needs rather than relying on entrance exams, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive in our supportive environment. Our goal is to make the transition as smooth as possible for both the student and their family, with our Admissions Team on hand to guide you through every step of the process.

Interview and Assessments

Your child will then have a friendly interview and complete two assessment papers in Maths and English—or in EAL if English isn’t their first language. These assessments are not a pass or fail test; rather, they help us gain a deeper understanding of your child’s current academic levels and how they might fit within their year group. If anything stands out, we’ll discuss it with you at this stage.

Following this, our Admissions Team will reach out to your child’s current school for a School Reference or, if applicable, a Suitability for Boarding Reference.

Optional Taster Day

We also offer a taster day, where your child can spend time with us, experiencing life at St Lawrence College firsthand. It’s a wonderful way for everyone to get to know each other and to explore all that our school has to offer.

Offers and Acceptance

After reviewing the admissions process, offers are made under the guidance of the Head of College. To secure your child’s place, simply return the Acceptance Form and pay the deposit, completing the final step of the entry process.

This step-by-step process ensures that both your family and our school feel confident and excited about the journey ahead at St Lawrence College.
