Catering Services Assistant

Catering Services Assistant 

20 hours per week / 34 weeks per year (term-time plus 2 weeks) 

St Lawrence College is a successful co-educational, day / boarding school for children between the ages of 3 and 18 years.  

We are looking to recruit a Catering Services Assistant to work in our busy kitchen where we prepare food for pupils and staff within the College.  A basic knowledge of food hygiene and preparation with relevant experience is required. 

This role is mainly Monday to Friday, however you would be required to work some evenings and weekends on a rota basis, so a flexible approach is essential. You should enjoy working as part of a busy team and be keen to develop your skills.

Science Technician (Chemistry)

Science Technician (Chemistry)  

Full-Time / 40 weeks per year 

We are looking to recruit a Science Technician on a Permanent Contract to provide support for teaching staff and pupils in a high calibre department. The Technician will play an active role in creating a working environment that is safe, well organised and easy to work in. A genuine passion for Science is essential and initiative is encouraged to make this possible. Previous relevant experience would be beneficial. 

Working hours  

37.5 hours per week / 40 weeks per year 

Monday – Friday 08:30 – 17:00  

every third Saturday 08:30 – 13:00 (during term time)

Job Description

Head Chef

St Lawrence College, Ramsgate is a co-educational, day / boarding school for children between the ages of 3 and 18 years.

We’re looking for an ambitious Head Chef to help us create memorable food experiences for pupils, staff and guests. You will lead a team in the kitchen, working closely with the Catering Manager and Front of House Teams across our multiple catering areas.

As Head Chef, you will be responsible for creating the culinary experiences for our Junior school, Senior School and Sixth form outlets, and our ongoing program of Schools hospitality events.

The Head Chef will be expected to demonstrate an excellent understanding of kitchen management and organisation, demonstrate a working knowledge of food Safety and Health and Safety compliance.

We provide breakfast, lunch and supper 7 days a week during term time, together with a wide range of hospitality events for our academic team, VIPs, visitors, and parents.

Head Chef – key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing high-quality food that delights our pupils, staff and parents
  • Identifying opportunities to improve our food service
  • Creating a positive kitchen environment where your team feel welcomed and supported
  • Delivering on trend food concepts
  • Ordering food, looking after stock control, and controlling food waste
  • Overseeing kitchen & catering area HACCP, cleaning and Health and Safety
  • Complying with Food Handling & Hygiene standards
  • Managing budgets and successfully meeting financial targets
  • Line Management of the kitchen team in all areas

 

The ideal candidate will have experience of a similar senior chef role within a large-scale catering environment and have the ability to create a positive work environment where the whole team can thrive.  We require good communication skills and a drive for excellence in an enthusiastic and motivated manner.

 

Working hours:

40 hours per week, 5 over 7 days, 52 weeks a year (weekends as required)

Core hours will be issued but some flexibility will be required for functions
