Pre Prep Sports Day 2024

On Friday, 7th June, we all enjoyed our Pre-Prep Sports Day, and were blessed with beautiful sunny weather that set the perfect stage for a day of fun. Children from Nursery to Year 2 eagerly participated in a variety of sports challenges.

The children rotated through an array of activities, including beat the goalie, bean bag throwing, tunnel crawling, limbo, and numerous obstacle course challenges. The day was filled with excitement, a great many beaming faces, and friendly competition, as parents and families cheered from the sidelines, enjoying cool ice water and Pimm’s in the warm sunshine.

Among the highlights were egg and spoon races and the thrilling races around the whole field, which drew loud applause. An incredible feat for many little legs. Pre-Prep Sports Day went without a hitch having been  meticulously organised by Mr James Marsh, Head of PE and boys games. Together with the Pre-Prep and sports staff, his able team of Year 6 helpers ensured that everything ran smoothly. These dedicated helpers not only kept track of the scores but also awarded multiple Sports Day stickers to the children’s white t-shirts with medals for all.

This year, Sutton House triumphed in the team working award, while Waymouth House was honoured with the sportsmanship award. The competition for House points was intense, with Sutton earning 178 points, Weymouth 290 points, and the overall winner, Fiske, claiming victory with an impressive 367 points.

Mrs Ellen Rowe, Headteacher of St Lawrence College Junior School, said, “Friday’s Pre-Prep Sports Day was a wonderful celebration of our children’s enthusiasm, teamwork, and determination. It was a joy to see children from Nursery to Year 2 participating with such energy and spirit. Our thanks go to Mr James Marsh and his dedicated team of Year 6 helpers. Congratulations to all the children for their incredible performances and to all the winning Houses. Days like these highlight the vibrant community we have here at St Lawrence College Junior School, and I couldn’t be prouder of everyone involved.”
