Year 3 pupils take part in Google programme to become ‘Internet Legends’

Posted: 8th February 2022

Last week our year 3 pupils took part in a ‘Be Internet Legends’ online session.

This programme, launched and ran by Google, aims to help children “…be safe and confident explorers of the online world.”

It was interactive live session with an ongoing quiz that involved schools nationwide.

St Lawrence College were lucky enough to get a personal ‘shout out’ from the hosts, much to the delight of the Year 3 pupils watching. Our internet legends also managed to get all of the quiz questions right throughout!

The interactive, informative and fun session covered the following areas:

  • BE INTERNET SHARP – Smart sharing, not oversharing
  • BE INTERNET ALERT – Knowing what’s real and what’s fake
  • BE INTERNET SECURE – Keeping your information safe
  • BE INTERNET KIND – Respecting others
  • BE INTERNET BRAVE – Speaking up

These are really important lessons in an increasingly online and digital world and the children learned a lot from the session. Today is Safer Internet Day and in their IT class, year 3 pupils are reflecting on their ‘Be Internet Legends’ session and building on top of their knowledge by visiting, playing and learning in Google’s ‘Interland‘.

Interland is an adventure-packed online game that makes learning about digital safety and citizenship interactive and fun. Here, kids will help their fellow Internauts combat badly behaved hackers, phishers, oversharers, and bullies by practicing the skills they need to be good digital citizens.’
