St Lawrence College has a rich history and a reputation for excellence. The genuine feeling of community is tangible and there is no doubt that the Christian values, boarding ethos, all-through nature of the school and focus on the individual contribute to a feeling of care and compassion that permeates every corner of the campus. It is my honour and privilege to be leading such an outstanding school.
Welcome From the Head of the College
βSince starting here, I have become better at speaking English, have developed more in Art and have achieved a good effort in Games β I am hoping to join the school badminton team.β
"My school is wonderful and I would recommend it to others who feel like they need the opportunity to spread their wings a little moreβ
βFrom the very first day I discovered many new opportunities. For example, I played paintball with the teachers and swam in the house swimming competition. And, even after one year at St Lawrence, I canβt say Iβve tried everything that this school offers! β
"You very easily and quickly get into a daily routine and make close friends. ItΒ΄s been a lot of fun being at St Lawrence. Joining this school has been one of the best decisions of my life."
βMy children have continued through their school years with respect for others, understanding of different cultures, the ability to hold conversations with different peer groups and with adults.β
"Sam lights up when he tells us what he has been up to at the School and the regular exeat weekends mean that as parents we never feel far away"
βAll of the Staff in the Junior School are magnificent. The self-confidence and happiness my daughter has gained since starting at St Lawrence College has been wonderful to see.β
"When I look back on my time at school, it is clear that St Lawrence was always very grounded and realistic. St Lawrence produced the Head of the Army and the Head of the Police and that, in many ways, says something about the benefits of a St Lawrence education."
"For me, being at St Lawrence wasnβt just about receiving an academic education, although the aim was to leave with at least a couple of A-levels! We were also educated in essential life skills, either absorbed by the environment or learned in our extra-curricular activities. Basic manners were an expectation; holding the door for someone, being respectful to the teachers, obeying the rule to not walk on Chapel Green and in doing this you learned to be respectful and conscientious towards others."
"I loved the creative aspects of my time at SLC. I was involved in some of the performances and productions such as; the House talent shows, the SLC Ale festivals, various productions and musicals."
"When I look back over my life to date, I can see that St Lawrence College has always played a part in some way. When I started at the Junior School, my father and grandfather were already teaching there. My uncle and sister have been there too. The activities at the School had the biggest impact on me as I got to try so many different things. CCF had a particularly big influence on me. I loved adventurous activities, sport, being outdoors and problem solving."

π Support the Future of Sport at St Lawrence College! π
Since our foundation over 145 years ago, St Lawrence College has been a beacon of sporting excellence. Our pupils, past and present, have thrived on the fields, courts, and tracks, embodying the Lawrentian spirit of teamwork, health, and achievement. We are proud to be recognised as one of the top 200 sports schools in the country, nurturing talent that shines both nationally and internationally.
As we celebrate Senior School Sports Day today, we invite you to join us in our mission to elevate sports at St Lawrence College to new heights. Our vision is ambitious, but with your help, it is within reach. We aim to create an environment where every pupil can thrive, regardless of their background. By investing in state-of-the-art facilities, top-tier coaching, and elite athlete development programmes, we can:
πΉ Nurture the next generation of sports stars and community leaders
πΉ Continue to be recognised as a top sports school in the UK
πΉ Attract and retain the best coaching staff and students
πΉ Offer high-quality sports facilities for pupils of national and international calibre
πΉ Enable children to reach their full sporting potential and enjoy a healthy lifestyle
Our commitment extends beyond our school gates. We want to support the growth of sport in East Kent, collaborating with local clubs, providing high-quality facilities, and creating a source of inspiration for our community.
To realise these goals, we need your support to develop our sports facilities further. This includes additional rugby pitches, a fourth netball court, enhanced athletics facilities, new cricket nets, increased floodlighting, and a new iconic pavilion that will serve as the centerpiece of our sports development.
We've already made significant progress, raising or allocating over Β£500,000. This significant achievement marks the completion of Phase 1 of our Sports Development Appeal. Now, we're aiming to raise Β£800,000 to complete Phase 2, which includes erecting and equipping the pavilion.

Our 40 Year 10 IGCSE pupils completed their coastal geography field trip yesterday, preparing them for their IGCSE Geography coursework, enhancing their understanding of coastal processes, and introducing them to the fieldwork investigation process.
During the field trip they worked at Ramsgate Main Sands, Dumpton and Western Undercliff. The day included a variety of hands-on activities that provided the pupils with primary field data and consolidate their classroom learning.
Many thanks to Mr Tim Jameson, Head of Geography, and the Geography Department.
