On Friday 4th July, the entire St Lawrence College community came together to celebrate Speech Day 2025, marking the end of a successful and inspiring academic year across both the Junior and Senior Schools.
The day was a true reflection of what makes St Lawrence College so special: a strong sense of community, a commitment to excellence, and a culture that celebrates the journey of every pupil.
Junior School: A Joyful Morning of Celebration
The morning began with the Junior School Speech Day, where families, staff and pupils gathered in the Hall for a heartwarming celebration. Performances, prize presentations and reflections on the year set the tone for a joyful close to the term.
Reverend Gav Cutler, Pastor of St Paul’s Cliftonville, joined as Guest of Honour. His presence and words added a thoughtful touch to the occasion.
A standout moment was a beautiful performance by Felicity, a Senior School pupil who began her St Lawrence journey in Year 4. Her song captured the College’s through-school spirit, offering a glimpse of what lies ahead for our younger pupils.
Throughout the event, prize winners from every year group were recognised for their hard work, creativity and kindness. The Headteacher paid special tribute to the Year 6 leavers, many of whom began their journey in Nursery and now leave ready to take on the challenges of Senior School.
From medals at the Thanet Music and Drama Festival to trophies for hockey and swimming, and an incredible £1,500 raised at the Summer Fair, the Junior School had much to celebrate.
Senior School: Pride, Reflection and Farewell
In the afternoon, the celebrations continued in the Sports Hall for the Senior School Prize Giving. The ceremony was led by the Deputy Head and Head of College, who reflected on the year’s academic, creative and personal successes.
We were honoured to welcome Bishop Rose Hudson-Wilkin as our Guest Speaker. Her address was uplifting and thought-provoking, encouraging pupils to embrace courage, character and compassion in all they do.
The ceremony included musical performances, student reflections, and the presentation of Bibles to our Upper Sixth leavers, a tradition that marks their transition into life beyond school while remaining part of the St Lawrence family.
Prize winners across the Senior School were celebrated for their excellence and determination. A special tribute was paid to the Class of 2025, who now join the Old Lawrentian Society, staying connected to the College as part of its lifelong community.
Looking Ahead
Speech Day 2025 was a powerful reminder of what makes St Lawrence College a unique and nurturing place to grow and learn. We are proud of every pupil, from our youngest learners to our newest leavers, and we thank our dedicated staff and supportive families who help shape such a vibrant school community.
As we look ahead to the next academic year, we carry forward the achievements, memories and values that have defined this one.
