Speech and Drama Festival Success

Posted: 1st March 2024

My sincere congratulations to the LAMDA children who chose to bravely take part in this year’s Thanet Speech and Drama Festival. Their commitment to prepare and rehearse is highly commendable. Parents, families and friends were treated to a display of Verse Speaking, Prose Reading, Original Poems, Public Speaking, Bible Reading, Acting and Mime.

Their winning growth in poise, clarity of diction, facial expression, confidence in sharing to an audience was evident in all children. The support and kindness they shared with each other, and the grace and resilience displayed, when they were not placed in a class, filled me with pride.

To sit quietly through, sometimes, very long classes is a lesson and once again, they did themselves, their parents and St Lawrence College extremely proud.

All classes were summarised, with places awarded by the adjudicator, a role that I could never undertake, as every child is a winner in my eyes, in their own right, for a multiple of different reasons.

Well done to every child who took part and thank you to our parents for travelling to the different venues, spending evenings and the weekend, watching and supporting the children.

Mrs Bourne, LAMDA Teacher
