Defibrillator training

Posted: 7th December 2023

I am delighted to report that Kirby House has hosted the wonderful team from local Kent-based charity Community Lifesavers, who have trained our 1st and 2nd fFrm students in essential CPR and defibrillator use.

Community Lifesavers CIC is a social action not-for-profit project run by volunteers. The charity has successfully delivered their one-hour life-saving training sessions to over 1400 secondary school students.

As well as having hands on experience of CPR and defibrillator use, students learnt that 80% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen in the home. With immediate action, bystanders can triple the chances of saving a life. A key factor in this is young people learning lifesaving skills at school.

The students found the sessions highly engaging and have all learnt some very valuable skills.
