On Thursday 20th June, the Chapel at St Lawrence College was filled with soaring voices and an atmosphere of shared joy as choirs from across the local area gathered for The Big Sing 2025.
Hosted by St Lawrence College, this annual choral celebration welcomed talented young singers and seasoned vocalists from Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School, Ramsgate Holy Trinity CofE Primary School, and the Thanet Chamber Choir. Together with SLC’s own Junior and Senior Choirs, they delivered a rich and varied programme that captivated a full audience.
The evening opened with a warm welcome and a striking performance from Holy Trinity Primary School, setting the tone for what was to come. The SLC Kirby Choir followed with energy and enthusiasm, while Chatham & Clarendon’s ensemble added depth with powerful storytelling and emotional range.
Highlights from the Senior and Community Choirs at St Lawrence included jazz-infused rhythms, classic choral works, and imaginative arrangements, all conducted with passion and precision. Each performance was met with enthusiastic applause, and the collaborative spirit between schools was evident throughout.
The grand finale brought all performers together for a joint piece that truly lifted the Chapel’s roof. It was a moment of unity and musical celebration that drew a standing ovation from the audience.
St Lawrence College extends its heartfelt thanks to all choir directors, accompanists, and families who supported the evening, and looks forward to next year’s Big Sing with great anticipation.
