Robot Wars

Posted: 26th June 2024

This past Exeat weekend, our students engaged in a thrilling Robot Wars activity, where excitement and strategy were the order of the day. The activity featured pre-made robots, each with its own capabilities, which the students selected and controlled in an intense, action-packed competition.

The activity began with students choosing their preferred robot from an impressive lineup of machines, each designed with different strengths and tactics in mind. After an introduction on how to operate their robots using controllers, the students were ready to enter the battle arena. The anticipation was high as pairs of students faced off against each other, each eager to prove their skills.

In addition to battle arenas, the activity also featured a unique challenge: Robot Penalty Shootout. A small football pitch was set up where students could test their robots’ accuracy and control by taking penalty shots against another students’ robot. This lighthearted competition added an extra layer of fun to the day, with students cheering each other on and celebrating every goal.

The weekend’s event was a huge success, with students eagerly discussing their battles and looking forward to future activities. The Robot Wars competition not only brought out the competitive spirit in everyone but also sparked a deeper interest in the fascinating world of robotics.

Our great thanks go to Mr Mark Ravenwood, Weekend Activities Co-Ordinator, and the team of teachers who helped run the day.
