St Lawrence College is proud to announce that our 1st XI hockey team have been crowned champions of the Frank Mason Hockey Tournament, one of the most prestigious and long-standing school hockey competitions in Kent.
Established in 1963, the Frank Mason Tournament brings together over twenty of the strongest hockey-playing schools in the county. Victory in this competition places St Lawrence College firmly among the very best U18 hockey teams in Kent.
The tournament format saw teams split into four groups of five, with only the top two teams from each group progressing to the main competition. St Lawrence College finished second in a highly competitive group before producing a remarkable run through the knockout stages, winning the Quarter Final, Semi Final and Final to lift the trophy.
Along the way, the team faced opposition from some of the region’s most established hockey schools, including Langley Park Grammar School for Boys, Sutton Valence School and Eltham College.
This is the fourth time St Lawrence College has won the Frank Mason Tournament in its long history, making the achievement even more significant. The victory is a testament to the commitment and teamwork shown by the players throughout the day.
Credit must also be given to the coaching team, with Mr Simmons & Mr Percival playing a key role in preparing and guiding the squad through a demanding tournament schedule. Their leadership and dedication, alongside the wider hockey programme at the College, were central to the team’s success.
This victory represents more than just a trophy. It reflects the strength of hockey at St Lawrence College and the environment we provide for young athletes to develop and excel at the highest level.
Congratulations to the entire 1st XI hockey squad and coaching team on an outstanding achievement.
