St Lawrence College recently opened its doors to 22 primary schools for an exciting Science Week Challenge, inviting young learners to explore the world of science through engaging hands-on activities. Each school was represented by four enthusiastic Year 5 pupils who participated in a day filled with creativity, teamwork, and discovery.
With the invaluable support of 50 Sixth Form volunteers, the young scientists tackled challenges like designing Water Rockets, building Spaghetti Towers, and Potato Catalase. These activities encouraged pupils to apply scientific principles in an exciting and interactive way, all while working in St Lawrence College’s impressive science facilities.
The day included a quiz that tested the pupils’ newfound science knowledge, with winners proudly receiving certificates to mark their achievements.
To cap off the memorable day, pupils were treated to a thrilling Science Magic Show, featuring incredible elements, fiery experiments, and plenty of audience participation — an unforgettable way to celebrate their hard work and curiosity.
This much-loved event has been a highlight of the St Lawrence College calendar for over 24 years, reflecting the school’s commitment to fostering a love of learning and making science accessible and enjoyable for all.
