St Lawrence College Junior School pupils have excelled at the 2025 Thanet Speech and Drama Festival, achieving outstanding success with 43 impressive performances from 17 Pre-Prep and Prep children. Competing across a diverse range of categories—Public Speaking, Verse Speaking, Prose Reading, Bible Reading, Acting, and Mime—our talented young performers secured multiple trophies and honours at this prestigious four-day event.
Head Teacher Ellen Rowe expressed her pride in the pupils’ achievements: “We are incredibly proud of every child who performed at the festival. It takes tremendous courage to stand up and perform, and their success is a testament to their hard work and the outstanding tutoring by our LAMDA teacher, Mrs Bourne. It really is unprecedented to have so much success at this prestigious event. We’re also grateful to the organisers who continue to make this festival a highlight of our school calendar.”

Supporting Talent and Confidence
Kim Bourne, LAMDA teacher at St Lawrence College Junior School, praised the children’s performances: “Their display of courage, confidence, and conviction set the bar in this highly competitive festival. To see the children’s communication and performance skills develop and grow each year is heartwarming. They were immaculately turned out, impeccably behaved, and so courteous and graceful in accepting the adjudicators’ decisions.”
This success highlights the school’s commitment to a well-rounded education, balancing academic excellence with exceptional extracurricular opportunities. At St Lawrence College Junior School, we nurture young talent, fostering confidence, teamwork, and personal growth alongside performance skills.
