On Memorial Sunday, St Lawrence College was delighted to welcome back Tokunbo “Toks” Adebayo, a recognised Old Lawrentian. Accompanied by Raphael de Souza, chairman of the Old Lawrentian Society, Toks attended the annual service – a cherished tradition that brings together the College community to reflect and remember.
Toks boarded at the Junior School from 1984 to 1993, laying the foundation for an impressive journey. After leaving St Lawrence, he pursued professional rugby while at university, playing for Bath and representing England U19. Today, Toks has built a successful career as an HR professional with leading multinationals and now focuses on facilitating investments in Africa.
A touching moment of the day was Toks’ unexpected reunion with Alex Mitchell, another Old Lawrentian. Years had passed since their last meeting, and their reconnection added a personal and heartwarming layer to the occasion. Together with Raphael, they reflected on their boarding school days, sharing memories that continue to shape their lives.
As the group admired the College’s dedication to tradition and its enduring sense of community, Toks’ visit underscored the remarkable journeys taken by Old Lawrentians, all rooted in the values nurtured at St Lawrence College.
