St Lawrence College and the Ramsgate & Broadstairs Sea Cadets commemorated the end of an era on Sunday 2nd June, as the College bid farewell to the sea cadets’ boats. The boats, which have been stored on the college grounds during the sea cadet group’s transition between premises, are now set to be housed temporarily at the Old Ferry Reception before moving to their new headquarters in Green Campus.

For some years, St Lawrence College has generously provided storage for the sea cadets’ boats and a minibus, maintaining a strong and supportive relationship with the group. This collaboration has been a testament to the community spirit that binds the institutions of Ramsgate.

Steve Cummings, Vice Chair of the Ramsgate & Broadstairs Sea Cadets, extended his gratitude to St Lawrence College for their support. “We are incredibly grateful to St Lawrence College for their generosity and support during this period of transition. Their willingness to store our boats has been invaluable and has allowed us to continue our activities without interruption. We appreciate their commitment to our group and the positive impact it has had on our young members.”

Barney Durrant, Head of College at St Lawrence College, expressed his well-wishes to the sea scouts. “It has been a pleasure to support the Ramsgate & Broadstairs Sea Cadets during their time of transition. Their dedication to fostering a love for the sea and adventurous spirit in young people is truly admirable. We wish them all the best in their new home in Green Campus and look forward to seeing their continued success and growth.”
