St Lawrence College Pupils Compete For England U18s in the 8-Nations

Posted: 20th July 2022

Young England teams took part in four separate 8-Nations events over the course of last week. England’s U16 and U18 Girls were both in Terrassa, Spain, which coincided with the FIH Hockey Women’s World Cup.

St Lawrence College have two current pupils in the England U18 Girls’ squad: Lily Beer and Chloe Plumb.

The 8-Nations offers an invaluable experience for all players and coaches and gives aspiring squads experience competing in an international high-pressure competition.

England played 5 games in total and concluded their 8-Nations campaign on Sunday, 17th July with a comfortable win over Scotland, to secure fifth place overall in the competition. Chloe Plumb actually opened the scoring in this game with an impressive backhand shot high into the net.

Many of the games were played in searing temperatures, but the girls dug deep to deliver strong displays.

These are the England U18 Girls’ results for the tournament:

  • Mon 11 July – England 0-3 Germany
  • Tue 12 July – England 2-0 Scotland
  • Thu 14 July – England 1-2 Belgium
  • Fri 15 July – England 5-0 Czech Rep
  • Sun 17 July – England 3-0 Scotland

We are very proud of Chloe and Lily’s achievements and we know they have everything required to flourish and continue to perform at the highest level.
