Alastair Brogdon, former Olympian and now Elite Performance Director at St Lawrence College attended a Hockey camp in Germany last week.

The camps attract aspirational junior hockey players between the ages of 10-16 from across the region. These days run from 10am-4pm and allow the players a fun and focused environment to work on their technical skills with guest coaches like Mr Brogdon and Benedikt Schwarzhaupt, German U21 captain and senior national team player as well as overseas players.

Mr Brogdon was able to not only offer expert coaching advice but could also provide a flavour and unique look into what a foreign boarder would experience if they joined St Lawrence College.

Mr Brogdon said, “The days at the camp are split into two. During the morning, the players experience a tailored warm-up plus fun speed & agility challenges, along with the first round of technical input from all the coaches on various key skills and elements of the game. During lunch, all attendees then get the opportunity to listen to what life is like at our school, what a typical ‘hockey week’ would encompass whilst also being able to ask any questions of their own about the school and that of an international hockey player. The afternoons then split into further technical drills and gameplay, where all the players are joined by one of the elite coaches so they can put their skills to the ultimate test.”
