Year 6 Beach Trip with Kent Surf School

Posted: 16th September 2021

Last Friday Year 6 set off on an exciting beach day at one of our stunning local beaches, Viking Bay.

The trip was organised to celebrate all their hard work preparing for the Kent Test and was a great opportunity to develop their team skills as a class. Year 6 embarked on a day of water sports and beach fun with Kent Surf School.

Junior School teacher, Mr Brown, commented on the day: “A glorious sunny morning and a deserted beach allowed us to embark on SUP board tuition on the sand before each class participated in lessons on the water. Pupils used their growth mindset to overcome obstacles in learning new skills and showed how their resilience helped and their confidence grew from this activity.  They loved it. By the time class 6B took to the water, the tide had come in and we were able to use the “wedge” to try out the new body boards which were made from recycled single-use plastics.”

As you can see Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed the day, everyone managed to stand up on the SUP boards as well!
