U15 Rugby team crowned Regional Champions

Posted: 20th January 2020

2020 continues to be an exceptional year for St Lawrence College sports team, with our U15 Rugby team pulling of an incredible victory over Brentwood last week (Thursday 16 January) in the U15 NatWest Vase Competition to become London and SE Group B regional champions. In the nail-biting regional final, the SLC boys staged a dramatic comeback in the second half with a stunning try from team captain Max Rogers in the dying minutes of the game to snatch a 22-19 victory.

This fantastic achievement sees our boys progress to the final eight of the U15 National Vase Competition where they will play Crypt School from Gloucestershire at home in February for a place in the national semi-final.

Adam Izzard, Director of Sport and Head of Rugby, is very proud of the team’s success: “To achieve this in rugby is near impossible as it is a sport where bigger teams normally always win so really is an incredible achievement. I am so pleased for the boys and I know it was a thrilling and heart-stopping game for all those parents, pupils and staff who came to watch.”
