Confirmation Service
Seven students were confirmed in the College Chapel on Sunday 27th May in a service performed by Bishop Graham Cray of Maidstone. The service is a public affirmation of faith in which candidates become members not just of a local church but of the worldwide Christian community. The service included two anthems from the Richard Rodney Bennett singers, and was then followed by a reception in the Library, where each of those confirmed received gifts.
The students - Elspeth Neden, Laura Shipley, Hannah Morley, Alice Neden, Vivian Adegoroye, Amy Hargreaves and Laura McIntosh - had been prepared for Confirmation by the College Chaplain during a day away last term followed up by one-to-one interviews. On the Friday before the Confirmation the Chaplain and the candidates had spent the afternoon together preparing for the service, sharing with each other something special that had encouraged their faith and eating ice creams at the seaside!
