Upper School Sports Day
On Friday 25th June, we had Sports Day! It was going to be tense because all the houses; Sutton, Fiske and Waymouth had an opportunity to win!
No one knew who the victory would go to. There was even a special part of Sports Day for the little ones in Years 3 and 4, called Potted Sports. There were Year 6’s counting the scores and encouraging them. It was hard work!
Everyone screamed, shouted and cheered for their houses. It was really exciting but also nerve racking. Chit Chat! Chit Chat! I could hear that among the houses.
I couldn’t believe my eyes! So many people were good at their events. Time flew by without anyone noticing. It was a warm summer’s afternoon. The boiling sun shone on us making us more tired. We were absolutely boiling hot, also worn out from all the racing. By the end of Sports Day, Mr. Whittle announced the final results! Everyone was so eager to find out the winner of the 2010 Junior School Sports Day.
The results:
‘The winners of ‘Potted Sports’ were… Waymouth!’
‘The winner of ‘Victor Ludorum’ was shared between Spencer Smith of Waymouth and Charlie Wilkening of Sutton
‘The winner of ‘Victrix Ludorum’ was Sophie Beeching of Fiske.
The final result:
‘The big trophy for the upper school was won by …SUTTON!’
At the end of Sports Day the results for the auction in aid of Demelza House and the weight of Mrs Cohen’s hair, (which had been cut by Nicky Clarke and made into a wig for a seriously ill child) were announced. Her hair weighed an impressive 225g!
Finally, refreshments were served, ending the hectic day. We ate strawberries and some juice but adults drank alcohol which we weren’t allowed! Over all I had a tremendous day and I think everyone enjoyed the lovely, bright afternoon. I hope next years sports day will be fun as this one!
