Oliver has a honours degree from Canterbury Christchurch University and joined St Lawrence College in September 2018 as a teacher of Science and Games. As well as teaching, he is also the deputy housemaster of Newlands, which is a boys’ Day house for Senior students between years 9 to 13.
Growing up in the local area, Oliver went through the youth system at Thanet Wanderers Rugby Football Club making his first team debut in 2008 and becoming first team captain during the 2012-2013 season. He continued his passion in rugby whilst living in Queensland Australia, where he played at local, district and provincial levels before returning to the United Kingdom.
After retiring from rugby, he has taken a keen interest in developing his coaching skills in both school and club level, where he is currently supporting the Thanet Wanderers 1st XV coaching set up.
Since joining St Lawrence College, he has led teams to the semi-finals of both the Kent Cup and the Natwest National Vase competitions. Along with the passionate, experienced and well qualified staff at the College, he hopes to continue the school’s superb reputation and provide an elite and supportive environment where all pupils can succeed and enjoy the sport of rugby.
