Subject Flexibility
We offer a personalised approach to choosing subjects. Students are encouraged to consider:
- What they enjoy – Passion leads to motivation and academic success
- What they are strong at – Confidence grows when natural talents are supported
- What keeps their options open – Some subjects may be essential for certain careers (e.g. Chemistry for Medicine)
Each student receives 1:1 guidance from tutors, teachers, and our Head of Careers to make informed decisions. Taster sessions and real-world insights help students explore interests before making final choices.
Extended Enrichment Programme (EEP)
The EEP is a key part of Sixth Form life, allowing pupils to extend their learning beyond the classroom. It includes:
- The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
- Essay competitions and research initiatives
- Online courses and virtual work experience
- Optional qualifications like Sports Leadership or Financial Education
The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
Equivalent to half an A Level, the EPQ is a self-directed research project chosen by the student. Pupils can write a 5000-word essay or produce a practical outcome with a 1000-word report. Skills developed include:
- Independent planning and time management
- Public presentation and academic writing
The EPQ strengthens UCAS applications and often earns additional university offers or UCAS points.
Support and Study Habits
Academic clinics, drop-in support, and structured study periods are built into the timetable. Sixth Formers learn to balance independence with accountability — habits that prepare them for university and beyond.
