1: Opening young people's eyes to their future
Creating the freedom to discover
The curriculum at the foundation stage (age 3-5 yrs) is based on the nationally set Early Learning Goals of literacy, numeracy, knowledge and understanding and personal, social and physical development. St Lawrence College supports this with extensive facilities that enhance this early learning experience.
Developing the confidence to learn
As children progress through the Junior School development is monitored by a variety of tests, culminating in Key Stage 1 Sats at the end of Year 2. However, although testing is crucial, the emphasis to our pupils is that of fostering a love for- rather than a fear of- learning. Thus, to date every one of our pupils has achieved level 2 or above.
Establishing the skills to succeed
In Years 3 to 6 our curriculum broadens considerably. Basic French and IT skills are now enhanced and Latin, Design Technology and Team Games are added. Excellent pass rates show that our children are well prepared for the challenges of both the Key Stage 2 Sats and the 11+ Kent Test.
