Laing
Laing House is the day house for girls aged from 13 to 18.
Years 7 to 10 each have their own spacious common room sited on the ground floor of the main building. Boarding girls are encouraged to visit during free time to provide continuity to friendships formed whilst in the Middle School.
The girls have access to a kitchen and an evolving library area that doubles up as our computer room and TV room. The Upper Sixth Form are in individual studies in a separate building close by. They regard this as an ideal environment for private study and reading.
Two Year 9 girls at a time take it in turns to be mentors to those in Year 7. Sixth Form girls take prep sessions twice a week for the younger students. This establishes a family approach to our day to day existence, all years readily mixing together and helping each other.
Our aim is to produce confident, caring and well-educated young ladies. Many of the girls become involved in the School Choir, the Combined Cadet Force and sports teams. The senior girls organise our house teams and direct the yearly House Singing and Play productions.
