Year 6 History Trip
Year 6 History Trip

On 22 May, Year 6 pupils took part in a fantastic re-enactment of the mass evacuation of children at the start of World War 2. Pupils and staff dressed in World War 2 era costume and the pupils were evacuated to 'Wales' by steam train from Tenterden Station on the Kent and East Sussex Railway. The station was completely set up as it would have appeared in the 1940's, with staff, actors and station fittings all looking like a period drama.

Pupils got the opportunity to see ration cooking, they could 'wheel and deal' with 'Viv the Spiv' and talk to ladies and gentlemen who were evacuated as children many years ago.

It was a thoroughly magical visit which supported the pupils' English and History lessons and gave the children a truly memorable experience.
