SLC Cricket pupils have been lucky to experience sessions by batting simulating company, Batfast, with their high-tech batting simulator putting everyone through their paces! St Lawrence College was the first school in the Country to face the B2S simulator, which can reach speeds of 90mph and project videos of professional bowlers onto a screen so it really is like facing the best cricketers in the world!

St Lawrence has continued to forge great links with Kent County Cricket Club, and is one of just five 'hub schools' that Kent CCC send talented cricketers to in order to receive extra training from the school's coaches who include former Ashes winner, Geraint Jones. The school's Cricket Academy includes regular input and masterclasses from Kent CCC professionals. With a different theme each week, aspiring cricketers can improve their skill set and benefit from expert coaching according to their age group.

The school's Sports Excellence Programme continues to cater for its top performers, and numbers have grown over its five-year existence, with the number of cricketers accepted onto this year's Sports Excellence Programme increasing from nine to 12, many of whom play for Kent age groups. Throughout the year the athletes are physically and mentally challenged, by a variety of focuses from net sessions, military fitness, theory sessions and player feedback.

To make sure we cater for our developing younger cricketers, we also run a Junior Development Programme which gives extra training sessions to those pupils who have an interest in cricket and want to be further pushed. This programme, along with others, gives ample opportunities for any aspiring cricketers, regardless of age or ability.

Last year our U15 girls' team reached the Quarter Final of the National T20 competition, making them one of the top eight teams in the country. St Lawrence College has a strong cricket setup, with top coaches and a very talented and dedicated crop of youngsters to work with; cricket for both girls and boys continues to thrive at St Lawrence College!
