1st XI v Bethany 12th May
SLC 213-3 (30 overs) Collins T. 103, Adegoke 51*
Bethany 79 (25.1 overs) Collins T. 3-19, Bowra 3-15, Collins P. 2-8
The match will be remembered for an excellent century by Tim Collins. Collins came to the wicket in the first over, following the early loss of Alex Cape. He played himself in and, after Ryan Jones dismissal in the sixth over, dominated a stand of 158 with David Adegoke who made 51*.
Collins, who faced 95 balls, played a series of well executed drives and did not attempt anything too ambitious until he was well set. He scored increasingly fast, proceeding from 82 to 100 in only five deliveries, which included two imperious slog sweeps for six.
Adegoke was the perfect foil in this partnership, though he too joined in the fun, unveiling some booming drives in the final overs. Nick Herbert (12*) kept the run rate up in the last two overs. In the field Collins was again in the action, his spin bowling brining him 3 wickets. However it was Patrick Collins who gave us the ideal start, bowling his 6 overs for only 8 runs and taking two wickets. Will Bowra picked up 3 wickets and Connor Bluemel and Adegoke took one apiece as Bethany were dismissed for 79, leaving the College winners by 1.
