Granville League U15 Netball Tournament

Match Report 15/02/2011

The third Granville League Tournament was played on a very wet, cold afternoon at SLC.

Our first match was against a strong U14 Ashford side who made us work hard.  Both teams started nervously and this was reflected in the low score.  The shooters from both sides missed some easy goals and there were some wayward passes, but we won 3-2.

Our second game was against Dover College.  Although the score looks one-sided, the team had to work hard, finishing 9-0.

We played the hardest group game next against Bethany and the low score showed how the sides cancelled each other out.  However, our determination paid off as we emerged 2-1 winners.

Our final group game was against Kings Rochester.  The result, 5-0, was very fair.

We qualified for the final and played against a tough Ashford U15 side.  The girls were fired up by the fact that they had narrowly beaten us in a school match earlier in the term.  Every player was shadowed, every ball was defended and the concentration levels were extremely high.   At the end of a tense game we were victorious, winning 4-1.

From the beginning of the tournament, the team worked as one. The defence were very solid but also moved the ball around in a positive way. The attacking players fed the ball into the circle and the shooters did the rest. The whole team worked hard, playing fluent, focused netball.
