Rugby is the performance sport in the autumn term.  St Lawrence College currently field 2 senior teams and junior teams all the way down to the U12s.  Every boy is given the opportunity to represent St Lawrence College and has a valuable role in a robust and challenging environment irrespective of his body shape or skill set. 

In the junior years at St Lawrence, boys are taught a full range of skills with the emphasis being placed on safety and mastering the basic skills.  Emphasis is placed on enjoying the game and each session is planned to challenge the players and have a large element of fun.

As the boys move up the school their basic skills are gradually supplemented with more complex concepts as their own understanding of the game grows.  We want the boys to practise and refine their individual skills in their own time and in organised positional clinics which will run from September 2011. 

In April 2013 the senior rugby squad will be going on tour to neighbouring France.  We want to give all of our students, when they reach the senior levels, the opportunity to experience the wonderful life skills and enjoyment that a rugby tour can give.

The fixture list is beginning to improve and it is the intention to give every boy the opportunity to play a rugby fixture every week.  We will be entering The Daily Mail Cup in 2012 with the intention of experiencing the ups and downs of cup competitions against a wider variety of schools.
