Captain of Cricket 2011: Ryan Jones (Lodge)

Cricket is the performance for boys in the Summer Term.  St. Lawrence College currently fields a senior team and junior teams all the way down to Under 12s.  All boys are given the opportunity to play cricket and to represent the school.

In the junior age groups boys are coached the basic skills of batting, bowling and fielding.  There is an emphasis on executing simple skills well and on learning how to read and understand the game.  Agility, balance, co-ordination and speed are seen as fundamental attributes to be developed.

As boys move up they develop their knowledge and understanding of the game and through more demanding coaching sessions and a wider experience of playing matches. The senior boys have the opportunity to undertake some indoor training in the Sports Hall nets and to use the bowling machine during the Lent Term.

We have block fixtures against the likes of Kings Rochester, Kent College and St. Edmunds and the senior team takes part in the National Schools Twenty 20 Competition.

We offer sports scholarships based on sporting ability and want every potential student to get this opportunity.  If you feel you can offer our school a high standard of cricket at 11+, 13+ or 16+, please get in contact with our registrar Alison Hall via email ah@slcuk.com.
