Visit from Watoto Children's Choir

Imagine a generation of children growing up without any parents because they had been killed by war or AIDS. A tragic scenario and one that is all too real for many developing countries in our world. Now imagine an organisation whose goal is to rescue such children, love them, nurture them in the Christian faith and give them the opportunity to become their countrys leaders of tomorrow. Well, the organisation is called Watoto, the country is Uganda and the transformation of what were lost young lives is very real.

Watoto visited the College in February and we were treated to an energetic concert of hope performed by some of Watotos orphans along with their guardians. The atmosphere at the concert was electric, moving and joyous. We heard first hand some of the childrens stories; stories that brought tears to the eyes of many present. However, the sadness of their tales was balanced with an enviable hope, a hope that saw the reality of a promising future, a future that was not just an earthly one but a heavenly one too.

The reaction of our students to these talented children was wonderful; spontaneous applause for such lively singing and dancing and a deeply respectful silence as testimonies were heard. The evening ended with the opportunity to meet the children, purchase some wonderful African souvenirs and make donations to this worthy organisation. Along with friends and parents of the College we raised £517.00 for Watoto. All we can add is, Watoto, if you are passing by again please drop in and see us.
