Wainman Cup - Cross Country Competition
On Tuesday 8th March, fourteen St Lawrence College U13 athletes travelled to Northbourne Park for their inter-school cross-country competition. This event has been held annually since the 1960s, though SLC has not taken part for several seasons.
Olivia Collins finished an excellent sixth in the 3000m Wainman Cup, behind some accomplished athletes. Sophie Mayes also ran with great promise in 12th place. Bhawana Paija, Betty Onion, Didi Udofia and Michaela Brooks completed the SLC girls team, which took fourth place overall.
In the 4000m Stevens Cup, Oscar Gadd, in 11th, was our leading runner, with Howard Corley, Ben Moulton, Kit Whalley-Payne, Alan Gurung and Nicholas Russell the other scoring team members. SLC finished fourth once again, with Roshan Gurung and Darshan Ghale also taking part.
We certainly have some enthusiastic athletes in Year 8 and SLC could be set for a very interesting track and field season.
