Annual Santa Fun Run

On 6th December a team from Sat Lawrence College, competed in the Annual Santa Fun Run in Folkestone, which was organised by Channel Rotary. This is the third year that SLC has sent a team, but this year was the first time that a 6 year old, Paloma Higgins from The Junior School, took part and completed the 6 km. course! The team (pictured here) consisted of 23 College members and so far they have managed to raise about £250, although money is still coming in, so they are optimistic that the final total could be more than this.

Over 1000 runners took part in the race, all of them running in Santa outfits provided by Channel Rotary. Pictured here, Joe Vint (11) with Sammy, his pug – a recent sports injury prevented Joe from running the race, so he walked it with Sammy instead!

Jane Higgins, who teaches Modern Languages at the College said of the event: “ We are hoping to send a team every year – this race has become an annual fixture in the College diary and a great way to raise money for fine causes. This year we were running for Cystic Fibrosis charities. For our students, it’s a wonderful exercise in team building and a winter outdoor challenge which makes it such a worthwhile event”.
