House Drama Competition
On Friday 11th and Saturday 12th February, Taylor Hall was host to the House Play Competition. This annual event has always been a highlight of the calendar and this year was no exception.
The two evenings offered a great mixture of performance from the genuinely tear-jerking Lodge performance of The Keeper to the light-hearted fun of The Wizard of Oz and Cinderella performed by Laing and Bellerby respectively. After last years success with The Wind in the Willows, Newlands decided to return to their tradition of presenting murder mysteries with their own interpretation of An Inspector Calls.
There were many individual performances worthy of praise in each production and talent was also in evidence backstage with slick scene changes, lighting and sound. The judges had a difficult time deciding on which house should be declared the winner but finally agreed that Lodges performance of The Keeper was (just!) the best performance of the competition. Congratulations are due to all who were involved both on and off stage for creating such entertaining performances and to Mr Robin Bendall for his organisation of the event.
