Highly Successful Boarding Inspection
OFSTED regularly inspects boarding and pastoral facilities to ensure that they comply with legislative requirements. In a wide-ranging inspection, over a 3-day period in March 2008, senior management, pupils, parents, boarding, medical, teaching and non-teaching staff were interviewed at length.
Results were excellent, ranging from ‘Outstanding’ (provision of exceptionally high quality) to ‘Good’ (provision is strong) in the various inspection categories. A full copy of the report can be obtained from the Headmaster on request.
In three categories - helping children achieve well and enjoy what they do, helping children make a positive contribution, and organisation - the provision was deemed 'outstanding'. The report concluded that the overall quality rating was good and recorded the following findings:
- This school continues to offer a high quality of care to the young people placed there. It is commendable that the school embraces so many different cultures within its pupil population and succeeds in promoting diversity whilst achieving and maintaining harmony.
- The relationship between the staff and the pupils is excellent and is a major contributory factor in the school’s success.
- It is a well run school with a clear management and staffing structure that operates effectively.
- The new purpose built middle school provides excellent study facilities for pupils.
