Collins Century Steals the Show!
Tim Collins achieved the considerable feat of scoring a century for the 1st XI whilst still being in the Fifth Form. He had looked in good form early in the season when scoring 82 against Dover College in a Twenty20 match, but against Bethany on Thursday 12th May, he surpassed that with an excellent century.
An early wicket brought Collins to the wicket in the first over. He played himself in and, after Ryan Jones dismissal in the sixth over, dominated a stand of 158 with David Adegoke who made 51*.
Collins, who faced 95 balls, played a series of well executed drives and cuts but did not attempt anything too ambitious until he was well set. He scored increasingly fast, proceeding from 82 to 100 in only five deliveries, which included two imperious slog sweeps for six.
Not content to contribute with the bat alone, he was instrumental in helping to dismiss Bethany as well, taking 3 for 19 with some well flighted spin.
