Archbishop of Canterbury opens Kirby House
On Friday 16th November 2007, the Archbishop of Canterbury, The Most Reverend Dr. Rowan Williams, visited Kirby House to dedicate and officially open this unique new building.
The Archbishop conducted a Service of Celebration in the College Chapel in which, instead of an address he consented to take questions from students. Questions ranged from ‘What do you want to achieve as Archbishop?’ to What do you speak to Jesus or God about?
In attendance were the Mayors of the Thanet towns, former pupils, and Friends of St. Lawrence. The building is named after Sir Kirby Laing, and a representative of the Laing family, long-standing supporters of the College, was also present at the ceremony.
