After A Levels?
On Tuesday 21st June forty eight Lower Sixth students accompanied by four staff spent the day as guests of The University of Kent at their Canterbury Campus.
Whilst students always have the opportunity to attend university Open Days, as they search for a course they wish to study, this was an early chance to see what life in Higher Education is all about.
The day had been arranged for St Lawrence and a full programme laid on for them. After welcoming them to the University of Kent they were presented with reasons why young people choose to go to university. They were then taken on a tour of the Campus by 3rd Year undergraduates who shared their experiences of life as a student.
After lunch in one of the dining halls, they were able to experience a sample lecture from one of the academic staff. The Schools of Biosciences, English and Business were represented. After further presentations about how to choose a university and what life might be like as a student it was back to school - well at least for one more year.
St Lawrence is grateful to the Schools Liaison Team at the University of Kent for their organisation of the day and look forward to it becoming an annual event.
