6th Formers Dive in Egypt

Six 6th formers and Mrs Glynn-Brooks travelled to Sharm el Sheikh to the Oonas Dive Club, during October half-term.  During the trip the group participated on a course to gain their OPen Water certification, which is a recognised worldwide PADI qualification and lasts a lifetime!

For the first three days the group carried out life saving skills in confined and open water.  During the next three days aboard the boat, they learnt skills such as 'mask remove' and 'navigation' in open water, before exploring the beautiful underwater world.  On the 5th day they sat a written exam to enable them to pass and become certified.

In between diving, the students were able to snorkel around the local reefs and relax on deck, discussing the different species of fish they had spotted whilst in the sea.

All divers passed both the practical and theory exams and are now keen to continue onto the advanced course.

This was certainly a trip of a lifetime, with pupils becoming certified, exploring the beautiful Egyptian sea and perhaps maybe even being inspired to pursue a career around marine life or become a Dive Master and use their qualifications during a gap year.
