The Kirby House Curriculum (Years 7 and 8) (Ages 11-13)
In the First and Second Forms, Years 7 and 8, pupils take a core
curriculum of English, French and Spanish, Mathematics, Science and
Latin which accounts for over half of the teaching periods. For the
remainder of the lessons they study Art, Music, Design Technology,
ICT, Home Economics, Geography, History and Religious
Studies.
In this way they are not only able to acquire the key skills needed
to progress to later stages of their education, but also have the
opportunity to follow a broad and balanced programme.
For French, Mathematics and Latin pupils are allocated to sets according to level of ability.
All lessons take place within Kirby House, except those requiring specialist resources, such as Sciences and Art. The layout of the building and the plentiful provision of computing equipment allow for a greater level of cross curricular teaching than has been previously possible.
