Summer Fete 2009
We will be holding this year’s Summer Fete on SATURDAY 27th June from 11.30am until 2.00pm.
This is the last Saturday before the end of term and we do hope that you will be able to attend with your children.
We’ve got our usual great event planned, but this year we’ve set our sights high and plan to include an “Auction of Promises” to help raise extra funds for the Library refurbishment. This will take place in Roberts Hall at 12.45pm.
The Library “make-over” will take place over the Summer Holidays, and we aim to add real value to this project by providing more comfortable and colourful furniture which will help to create a really child-friendly environment – without losing the Library’s traditional virtues, of course.
What is an Auction of Promises?
An Auction of Promises is when people make a promise to donate their time, a skill, or an item. Bidders then bid to win the items they are interested in. The highest bidder wins. Bids may be placed on the day or given in before the 27th June when bids will be placed on the bidder’s behalf up to their maximum bid.
We hope to be able to produce a catalogue of lots/prizes in advance so that we can generate plenty of interest! Please think about what you can donate – remember no promise is too small from “how to build a web site” training to breath-taking events or “once in a lifetime” experiences.
As we are a small committee, we also need help running stalls & are asking for volunteers. We would also appreciate donations of cakes (no fresh cream or nuts please), scones & prizes for the children’s and adult’s tombolas.
Please indicate what you would be willing to do or can help to provide on the tear off slip, and return it to your child’s teacher by Friday 5th June, so that we can finalise arrangements at our JSPA meeting the next day (all parents are welcome to attend!). Alternatively, you can e-mail or call me: mike.ocallaghan@btopenworld.com or 01843 832980.
A reply slip is attached to this letter.
Thanking you in advance for your support
Mike O’Callaghan, Chair
