St Lawrence College Tournament Kick-Starts the Season

On Saturday 24^th September, teams from six Thanet primary schools joined their hosts, St Lawrence College Junior School, for an early-season football tournament. Blessed by glorious sunshine, the event was keenly contested and the many enthusiastic spectators were treated to a high standard of football. The group stages were so close that goal difference had an important part to play in determining who advanced to the semi-finals. In the end, St Saviours Primary School came out convincing winners, comfortably defeating Dame Janet 2-0 in the final.

Head of the Junior School, Simon Whittle, said: Having won the tournament ourselves last year, we were hoping for a repeat performance, but you cant win them all! St Saviours thoroughly deserved their victory; they played with great confidence and their team-work was impressive. All in all, it was a very successful event, and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!
