Introducing Kirby House
There is plenty of excitement in the air with the opening of the College’s first new building for many years.
It is called Kirby House, after Sir Kirby Laing, an Old Lawrentian, whose family have been generous benefactors of the College.
It is a stunning piece of modern architecture and sits well between the two traditional parts of the College. As well as providing a welcome new base for Middle School pupils in Years 7 and 8, it accommodates a select group of junior boarders.
Head of the Junior School, Simon Whittle, says: “Since Kirby House opened its doors in January 2007, our junior boarders have been making the most of its 5-star accommodation! For those of us who went to boarding school back in the days of straw mattresses and cold showers, this is the lap of luxury! They’re very lucky children.”
