Inter-House Quiz 2010

On Thursday 11^th of March 2010, the Inter House quiz was held. Three houses competed, which were; Fiske, Sutton and Waymouth. Representing Fiske were: Elizabeth Allen (who was replaced during the quiz by Sadie Rose-Watkins), Millie Smith, Siobhan Corby-Tobin and Joseph Scott. The Sutton team were: George O’Grady, Alice Wilkening, Jack Hanrahan and Charlie Wilkening. Waymouth were represented by Alex Kirchschlager, Joseph Griffiths, Paige Burne and Monica Gold.

The rounds were; General Knowledge, Colours, Mr. Spencer’s DVDs, True or False, Ask the Audience, What is it?, Numbers, Bird/Bard/Moth/Myth and General Knowledge. In the first General Knowledge round Mr Perry, the question master asked every team the same question and the teams conferred and wrote down the answers. The team captains Joseph, Charlie and Monica had the final say on the answers given. For the Ask the Audience round there were two sets of questions- the Deadliest animals, which went to the Year 3 and 4’s, and Oldest animals in the zoo which went to the teams and Year 5 and 6.

On a few rounds, teams had instruments to play for buzzers. Fiske had a xylophone, Sutton had a metalophone and Waymouth had a tambourine. This made things much more amusing. Coming into the last round, Fiske were leading Waymouth by a few points and Sutton were last. In the last round Sutton scored the most. When the final scores were added, Waymouth thought they had it in the bag. However, Fiske were announced the winners with a 1 point lead over Waymouth. Rapturous whooping from the Fiske side of the hall drowned out the other two houses applause. On the stage, the participants offered friendly handshakes and warm congratulations to each other.
