Inspectors full of praise for SLC Junior School

Two inspections within a few months have kept the staff on their toes and, more importantly, given our school a very positive thumbs up!

In June 2011, Ofsted inspectors produced a report on our boarding department, rating three of the six areas as outstanding and the other three as good.  The schools arrangements for the safeguarding of pupils, and the calibre and commitment of the boarding staff, were singled out as specific examples of outstanding practice.

Then, in October and November, it was the turn of the Independent Schools Inspectorate to assess the quality of the school as a whole.  Their report recognises the many improvements achieved since the schools last ISI inspection in 2005, describing SLCJS as excellent (the highest possible rating) in many areas of life and confirming that it fulfils all of its aims.  As well as celebrating the high standards of teaching and learning, there is particular praise for the quality of pupils personal development, pastoral care and links with parents.  

Head of the Junior School, Simon Whittle, said: I was delighted to receive confirmation that the inspectors rate our school so highly.  It was also very helpful to receive a few recommendations which will focus our thoughts in the months ahead.  I would like to thank all the members of our school community for their contribution towards a very positive exercise.
