Introducing Kirby House

Kirby House was named after Sir Kirby Laing, an Old Lawrentian, whose family have been generous benefactors of the College.

It is a stunning piece of modern architecture and sits well between the two traditional parts of the College. As well as providing a welcome new base for Middle School pupils in Years 7 and 8, it also accommodates a Junior School boarders.

Head of the Junior School, Simon Whittle, says: “Since Kirby House opened its doors in January 2007, our junior boarders have been making the most of its 5-star accommodation! For those of us who went to boarding school back in the days of straw mattresses and cold showers, this is the lap of luxury! They’re very lucky children.”

Each dormitory consisting of approximately 7 beds, has its own en-suite, complete with showers.

Children have plenty of space to make their area their own, including cork boards for those precious photos of home, friends and family, as well as plenty of shelves, drawers and wardrobe space.

Despite being bright, light and airy the dormitories also manage to feel cosy ands snug and provide a wonderful place of relaxation and rest.
